All this week, Sony is highlighting new PlayStation VR games and issuing updates on existing titles as part of a Spotlight series focused exclusively on its virtual reality headset. There will be no new PlayStation 5 news from Sony this week, and the company was adamant to include the preface.
“Over the next few days, we’re going to spotlight some upcoming games coming to PlayStation VR, including some announcements and updates for previously revealed PS VR titles,” Sony’s content communications senior specialist Gillen McAllister said. “And as mentioned, this is all about the games. So to manage expectations, there’ll be no PS5-related news.”
The PlayStation VR Spotlight started on September 7. Developers Mojang and Survios are the only two featured in the series so far, with updates on Minecraft’s PS VR support and The Walking Dead Onslaught’s gameplay. Sony hasn’t confirmed which other games will be spotlighted this week.
Alongside this week’s showcase is a sale on PS VR games. The PlayStation VR Promotional Sale starts on September 9 and runs until September 23. The three-week-long sale includes discounts on games like Farpoint, Marvel’s Iron Man VR, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, Superhot VR, and many more.
In other next-gen news, Microsoft has revealed the release date and price of the lower-tiered Xbox Series S. The same information about the Xbox Series X remains unconfirmed, though potential numbers–like a $499 price tag and November 10 release date–did leak. Meanwhile, Sony has not talked about or even hinted at a release date or price for the PS5 yet.
