God Of War Director Cory Barlog Is Teasing A Deep Space Sci-Fi Project On His Official Twitter Account

Cory Barlog is one of the most popular and watched game directors in the industry today.

That’s partly because he loves to tease future projects on Twitter, generating a ton of interest and excitement, especially when it pertains to the God of War franchise.

But it seems as though Barlog might be teasing a project outside of Kratos. He recently changed the banner photo on his Twitter account to a series of hypersleep chambers, which were seen in the Ridley Scott Alien movies.

Barlog also changed his profile photo to a picture of the Voyager 2 space probe, which NASA launched back on August 20, 1977 in order to study outer planets in our solar system. The location on his profile was updated to “deep space,” raising questions about what kind of sci-fi project the acclaimed director has in the works.

It’s unlikely that we’re going to get any news regarding this potential project anytime soon. Barlog is incredibly busy at the moment, working on the next God of War game, which was revealed at Sony’s last big PlayStation 5 event.

The reveal closed out a monumental event for Sony, where the pricing and release date for the PlayStation 5 were officially revealed to the world.

There wasn’t a lot shown for the game, which is confirmed to release on the PlayStation 5 in 2021. In fact, there was basically nothing shown whatsoever. It’s a black screen with a Kratos voice over talking about how “the time is near.”

We see a Norse reimagining of the classic God of War Omega symbol, complete with Nordic runes and displayed in a way that makes it look like the World Serpent, a pivotal character in the last game.

The words “Ragnarok is Coming” flash across the screen, leading many to believe that the game will be called God of War: Ragnarok.

While everyone knew that a new God of War was coming soon, Sony and Santa Monica Studios have remained tight lipped about the existence of the project for several years now.

Of course, Barlog was teasing us the whole time via Twitter, as is his way. A pinned series of tweets on his official Twitter account revealed the game to anyone clever enough to look for it. The first letter of every tweet spelled out “RAGNAROK IS COMING.”

Barlog was one of the creative minds behind the original God of War games, before taking a break from the franchise. He returned to completely revitalize the series with 2018’s God of War, which many also call God of War 4.
