Demi Lovato Touches On Her Eating Disorder Struggles On Mental Health Awareness Day

Demi Lovato is never one to shy away from talking about her struggles with mental health, that much is for certain. This weekend, Hot New Hip Hop picked up on an Instagram post from the singer-songwriter in which she touched on her battle with various eating disorders.

As most know, Demi has struggled with substance abuse and other mental afflictions in the past, including when it was reported that she had overdosed and succumbed to her condition.

Her latest declaration, however, was on eating disorders. On her Instagram account, the star said she never “had boobs” until she started eating in the way that she truly wanted.

Lovato wrote on her account that she always hated having small boobs when she was much younger but they finally grew in when she started eating as much as her body demanded from her. The star joked that she wasn’t wearing a “push-up bra” in her picture and she was proud of herself.

Fun fact: I never had boobs until I started eating what I wanted. My whole life I hated my small tittaayyys and then when I finally let go of my eating issues, I GOT THE BOOBS I WANTED!!! 😂😂 this is no push-up bra or boob-job y’all!!! IT’S ALL ME!! And you know what, they’re gonna change too!!! AND I’LL BE OKAY WITH THAT AS WELL!! But let this be a lesson y’all.. our bodies will do what they are SUPPOSED to when we let go of trying to control what it does for us. Oh the irony…. 💞 Did you have a similar experience when making peace with your eating issues?? I’d love to hear!!!

The songstress went on to say that her body would also change over the years and she was ok with that as well. Amid a recent interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music recently, Lovato explained what her thoughts were about body positivity and the idea of perfection.

According to the singer-songwriter, she one day decided to stop wasting her life worrying about the “unimportant things,” and she just wants to focus on the things that matter. Demi says she doesn’t feel the need to “chase perfection” because she knows such a thing isn’t even real.

Lovato went on to say that it was about finding balance and loving one’s journey and experiences. As it was previously reported, Demi Lovato overdosed on drugs two years ago. It was one of the biggest news stories of summer 2018, and the singer dropped a new single right around the same time, “Sober,” in which she addressed her mental health struggle.

These days, the star was in the headlines for her relationship with Max Ehrich which came to a screeching halt over the last few weeks. As the story goes, Max supposedly wanted to use Demi for her fame and she later figured it out.
