Brave Minnesota Vikings Stun Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field, 28-22
As announced before, Figueiredo (20-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) performed dominantly in his first title defense. The current champion of the UFC flyweight division defeated Alex Perez (24-6 MMA, 6-2 UFC) via first-round submission.
The bout lasted for just one minute and 57 seconds, once “God of War,” as fans call Figueiredo forced the challenger to tap after being caught in a guillotine choke. He proved all the bookmakers and analysts who stated that Perez’s chances are virtually inexisting, and that the Brazilian should have no problems to record an easy and fast victory.

Since the moment the bout began, it was obvious that Figueiredo controls the flow, and that he waits for the moment to attack. Perez tried to make a surprise, but his initial attacks were quickly restrained, after which he didn’t have a plan B.
The champ now has five wins in a row, and eyes the sixth one this December. Shortly following the bout, the UFC booked a match between him and Brandon Moreno, who posted a victory during the prelims. Per sources, the two agreed to meet on December 12 at the same place, the APEX facility in Las Vegas. Figueiredo stated that he wishes to meet Moreno and the positive response came within hours.
Valentina Shevchenko (19-3 MMA, 8-2 UFC), one of the most dominant fighters in the ladies’ competition, easily routed Jennifer Maia (18-6-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC), defending the flyweight throne via unanimous decision.
Even though this event went to the distance, there was no question about the Kyrgistani-Peruvian fighter’s victory. Like so many times before, she was controlling the fight, and as time went by, handling the rival easier. Though, it needs to be pointed out that Maia won the second round, which is a rarety against Shevchenko.

Yet after that small victory, she experienced the champ’s rage, especially in the last sequence, once Shevchenko inflicted her several strong punches, which damaged her face.
This was the fourth title defense for the Bullet, who has six victories in a row. Her future is not that clear as Figueiredo’s, though two names are in combination for her next opponent, Jessica Andrade, and Lauren Murphy, and Shevchenko mentioned them both at the press conference.
