Dead by Daylight has a new update releasing today which introduces a new Survivor and Killer to the asymmetric multiplayer horror game, as well as a “major” graphical update. The chapter is titled Descend Beyond, and the new killer that joins the ranks of original slashers and video game icons such as Silent Hill’s Pyramid Head is known as The Blight.
Described as a bright and ambitious Scottish chemist, Talbot Grimes put profits before human welfare, was eventually betrayed by his clients, and was then transformed into The Blight by The Entity which created several of the infamous Killers in Dead by Daylight.
The new Survivor is Felix Richter, an Austrian architect who is the latest member of a secret society. Seeking to restore the old Victorian buildings on the island where his father and fellow society members vanished, Felix soon fell victim to the same fate as his predecessors.
Developer Behaviour Interactive also plans to add new in-game cosmetics, that include rare outfits for The Blight and Richter, as well as an Oktober Fest collection of clothing for Survivors Meg, Felix, and Kate. The upcoming graphical update will be available for free for all players, on all platforms. The Springwood and Yamaoka maps will be completely overhauled and will feature new models and animations for generators, pallets, chests, and lockers.
Dead by Daylight
Last week also saw confirmation that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Dead by Daylight are in development, with cross-play supported across multiple platforms.
Dead By Daylight recently received an updated review on GameSpot, earning a 9/10 score to reflect all the various improvements made to the game since it launched in 2016. “Thanks to its community of players Dead by Daylight is without peer in the asymmetrical competitive multiplayer arena, and has grown into one of the most robust horror experiences around,” wrote reviewer Joab Gilroy.
